Impacted Wisdom Teeth

An impacted tooth is one that fails to grow through the gums, canine and wisdom teeth are the most common to become impacted. Wisdom Teeth usually grow when a person is between 17 and 25 years.

Impacted Wisdom Teeth can cause the other teeth to become crooked, earaches, painful cysts can form, infections are more common and it causes other negative changes in the jaw.

Depending if the teeth are fully or partially impacted, the initial treatment is to expose the impacted tooth to allow it to grow on its own.  If this is unsuccessful or the teeth are fully impacted they will be removed by a dental surgeon.

Your dentist will advise you on the best treatment methods.
